Robert George Hercus @ Abdul Karim Hercus
Founder & Managing Director

Robert has more than 35 years of working experience in the field of information science, specialising in large scale computing infrastructure and computationally-intensive projects. He obtained his BSc (Hons) degree, majoring in Information Science from Monash University, Australia.

Robert moved to Malaysia in 1972 to set up the country's first Computer Science course at the Mara Institute of Technology. After serving as a Lecturer there for more than four years, he subsequently ventured into IT consultancy and was engaged by various Government agencies and private companies. Robert is most identified by his involvement in the establishment and implementation of the IT infrastructure and applications for Projek Lebuhraya Utara Selatan Sdn Bhd (PLUS). His development of automatic toll collection and the Touch 'n Go card systems were the first in the world for tolls and multi-company settlement. He also acted as an Advisor to Time Telekom Bhd on the establishment of their fibre optic network and to PUTRA on the establishment of their IT infrastructure to support their future Light Rapid Transit (LRT) operations.

Robert established MGRC's ultimate holding company, Neuramatix Sdn Bhd, in 2001 focusing on the creation of intelligent applications and devices in various domains including bioinformatics, machine translation, and advanced robotics. He is the inventor of the NeuraBASETM technology which is the basis for most of the applications developed by Neuramatix and its subsidiary companies. Robert currently sits on the Board of the Neuramatix Group of Companies.

Munirah binti Haji Abdul Hamid
Founder & Executive Director

Munirah earned her LL.B. (Hons) from the University of London and has 36 years of experience in various businesses since the early 70s, among others, as Managing Director and Chief Editor of a publishing house, and as Executive Producer in producing programmes for television. In the late 1970s, jointly with her husband, Robert Hercus, she set up the first independent software house in Kuala Lumpur. In addition, she is an active social worker who has contributed significantly to society for close to 40 years for the betterment of women and children in education. Working together with her childhood friends and other volunteers, Munirah is the main coordinator of a Soup Kitchen project for the benefit of the homeless in Kuala Lumpur.

Besides holding the Executive Director position in MGRC, Munirah is also the Managing Director of our holding company Synamatix and ultimate holding company Neuramatix Sdn Bhd. She is instrumental in driving the strategic operations of the group and is responsible for the accounting, legal, and administrative functions of our Company, including staff recruitment and career development of our employees.

Adlan Hercus
Financial Controller

Adlan graduated from Curtin University in 1996, earning his Business Commerce Degree with a major in Banking and Commercial Law. Earlier in his career he was involved in equity and futures trading, established a software development company for straight-through-processing solutions, and consulted larger banks for the development and implementation of banking systems, stock broking systems and risk management solutions.

In 2002, Adlan joined Neuramatix and its group of companies as the Corporate Strategy Manager. He was responsible for planning and implementing corporate development strategies, managing the legal and finance departments, and has significantly contributed to venture capital fund raising and identifying business opportunities for the company. Adlan also co-founded Citcat Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary under Neuramatix.

As MGRC's Financial Controller his responsibilities include financial planning and budgeting, cash flow management, financial forecast and analysis and overseeing operations of the finance department.

Dr Stephen Rudd
Chief Scientific Officer

Stephen has a Ph.D. in molecular biology from the University of East Anglia in the UK. He was a Senior Bioinformatics Specialist at Orion Pharma in Finland. Prior to that, he was the Senior Scientist and the Head of Bioinformatics at the Turku Centre for Biotechnology in Finland. His other previous attachments include the John Innes Centre in the UK and GSF Research Centre in Munich, Germany.

Stephen has published more than 40 scientific articles, and co-authored the research paper on the Arabidopsis thaliana genome, the first plant genome in the world to be sequenced. He specialises in bioinformatics and has been actively involved in projects relating to genome analysis, gene expression profiling, proteomics, toxicogenomics and pharmacogenomics.

Stephen’s role as CSO is to lead the MGRC R & D activities in innovative new directions, to coordinate the development of exciting new genomics solutions and to maintain excellence in our teaching and outreach programmes.
