Our services commenced on 1 July 2005. The online bioinformatics services platform is managed and operated by Malaysian Genomics Resource Centre Sdn Bhd, which was incorporated on 18 May 2004. The centre for our worldwide operations is currently based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Since commencing operations, MGRC has users all over the world using our online application tools.
MGRC has been established to provide easy access to
ultra-fast sequence analysis tools for the wider life
sciences community. Our primary goal is to serve individual
researchers and scientists who require high-throughput
applications and new database platforms without the
associated resource implications that come with managing
and maintaining such technologies in-house.
By empowering life scientists with our unique product-offerings,
it is envisaged that critical bottlenecks in research
areas such as drug discovery, comparative genomics,
microarray chip design and personalised medicine can
be alleviated or overcome.
Our service is provided in conjunction with Malaysian Biotechnology Corporation (BiotechCorp), an agency under the purview of Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation and is wholly-owned by the Ministry of Finance Incorporated. BiotechCorp is governed by the Biotechnology Implementation Council and advised by the Biotechnology International Advisory Panel, both chaired by the honorable Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato' Seri Abdullah Hj. Ahmad Badawi.
The objective of the establishment of BiotechCorp amongst others is to identify value propositions in both R&D and commerce and support these ventures via financial assistance and developmental services.
| BiotechCorp's key mandates are as follows: |
- Act as a one-stop-centre
- Nurture and accelerate growth of Malaysian biotechnology companies
- Create conducive environment for biotechnology
