Dr Laurence James Croft leads the bioinformatics team at MGRC and also manages the sequencing laboratory. He has 20 years of experience in bioinformatics, especially in bacterial, fungal, animal, and plant genomics and transcriptomics. He has an interest in experimental design and has designed large data experiments that utilise next generation sequencing, PCR, mass spectrometry, high-throughput cell assays and custom array technologies.
Dr Croft’s experience in mathematics, statistics, molecular biology, lab techniques and programming have seen him work in both the pharmaceutical industry and academia in the United States, Australia, Denmark, Switzerland and Malaysia. He has first author publications in high impact journals such as Nature Genetics and Microbiology and his publications have been cited by the Australian judiciary. Dr Croft also has research interests in cancer transcriptomics, non-coding RNAs, and the computational architecture within mammalian cells.
